Todd Tarner, PA-C
Todd
Tarner grew up in Chambersburg, PA and
joined the US Air Force after high school. He served as a cardiopulmonary
lab technician at Offutt AFB, NE. After nine years of enlistment, he was
accepted as one of 6 Air Force members to attend the last US Air Force
Physician Assistant training program at Sheppard AFB, TX. He was transferred
back to Offutt AFB and graduated from the University of Nebraska Medical
Center.
During
his Air Force career as a PA he served at Holloman AFB, NM, Elmendorf AFB,
AK and retired as senior physician assistant from Peterson AFB, CO. His
various roles included working in acute care clinics, family medicine as
well as the emergency department. He excelled as smoking cessation class
director, hypertension class coordinator as well as asthma care course
instructor. He also worked off-duty as a surgical team member for LifeAlaska
Inc performing tissue and organ recovery.
In
1995, he was assigned as medical officer in charge of the Provincial
Reconstruction Team at Forward Operating Base Asadabad, Afghanistan. While
there, he worked with the Provincial Governor and Minister of Health to
rebuild the medical system in this war torn country. He also worked as a
surgical team member and triage officer during multiple mass casualties with
the 2nd Army Forward Surgical Team. His tasking also included running a
local national clinic, treating up to 100 patients per day.
After
military retirement he moved back to the Great Land with his wife and two
daughters, while one daughter remains in Texas. He currently manages a
clinic at Alpine oil field on the north slope for ConocoPhillips Alaska. He
joined with the Acute Family Medicine team in February 2008. This allows him
to support his need to catch lots of fish! \
